Brilliant in finish with soft iridescent toning at the border, beautiful, and among the finest certified. Most of the 600 Proof half dollars that the Mint produced in 1868 were distributed as part of the year's Proof sets, although a few may have been sold individually to contemporary collectors. Although many of these have survived, a carefully preserved and visually appealing premium Gem as offered here is a rare find in today's market.
