Lot Description

1787 Nova Eborac Copper. W-5750. Large Head. VF-20. 147.1 grains. Attractive medium brown with finely granular surfaces on both sides. A glass picks up some light hairlines, which together with some minor field iridescence suggest a wiping long ago. Tiny pit next to obverse eye and corner of the lips, nick under I of VIRT on reverse. Well centered and fairly sharp, really a pretty nice example of this very scarce type overall. Most known specimens have one problem or other. This one has a bold date, complete legends, and a well detailed obverse portrait, much to recommend it into a nice collection. PCGS# 478.
