Lot Description

Handsome steel-olive and mauve-gray patina blankets boldly defined, smooth-looking surfaces for this premium Extremely Fine Liberty Seated dollar. While not as rare as the 1861, 1862 or 1863, the 1865 is still a scarce and eagerly sought Civil War era issue in this series. The vast majority of the 46,500 circulation strikes produced were destroyed through melting, primary after export to Asia.
