Delightful Cameo Gem Proof 1882 Trade Dollar 1882 Trade Dollar. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. An incredibly gorgeous example of this popular Proof-only issue from the waning years of the trade dollar series. Softly frosted and fully impressed central motifs contrast nicely with deep mirror fields. The entire package is dressed in a bold and vivid array of cabinet toning that is a hallmark of the Millholland Collection. One could spend decades searching and not find a finer example of either the type or issue at the assigned grade level. Eagerly sought for both specimen type and date purposes, the 1882 trade dollar is a Proof-only issue with 1,097 pieces produced. Most examples are found in grades of Proof-64 and lower due to hairlines and other signs of (mis)handling.
