This luxurious premium Gem Uncirculated example displays razor sharp striking detail on lustrous, satiny surfaces. Beautiful color, as well, with wisps of rose iridescence on a base of warm tan-orange color. The first examples of this issue were released to the public on May 25, 1857, amid much excitement. Over 17.4 million examples were eventually struck, and the current piece ranks among the finer certified survivors from that mintage. It is a strong candidate for inclusion in a high-quality type set to represent the short-lived Flying Eagle cent.
