Lot Description

Richly original toning in blue-gray and steely-pink with strong underlying luster in a smooth, frosty texture. While the 1897 is one of the more readily obtainable early date Barber dimes in Mint State, it is significantly scarcer than such later date issues of the type as the 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914 and 1916. Of course, Superb Gems such as this are nothing short of rare from a condition standpoint, and this is one of the nicest that we have ever had the privilege of bringing to auction.
