Lovely iridescent toning in sandy-gold, pinkish-apricot and powder blue is more vivid and varied on the obverse, where it has a desirable target-like distribution. The final year 1883 is a popular type candidate in the Proof Shield nickel series, and is represented here by an exceptionally well preserved and highly attractive Superb Gem.
