- 1795. NGC graded Mint State 62. A choice example of this first year of issue type coin. The surfaces have only minor tick marks, and the strike is full and complete. The eagle’s feathers are bold and without blemish. As a first year type coin, the obverse design is remarkably modern. Liberty’s large cap of freedom crowds out the stars and Liberty, which are offset to either side, giving the obverse a bit of an unbalanced appearance. On the reverse, the delicate eagle holds a small wreath in his beak, and stands perched on a leafy branch. NGC population of 8 in this grade, with 15 graded higher.
