1857-S Three-Dollar Gold Piece. VF-20 (PCGS). OGH. Scarce in all grades with a mintage of 14,000 pieces of which perhaps two percent survive. Flashy and bright with semi-reflective surfaces and smooth wear. Always seen with the date softly impressed in the die, but the S mintmark is bold and large. PCGS# 7977.
