Losbeschreibung
1871-CC Seated Liberty Dime. Fortin-101, the only known dies. VG-10 (PCGS). OGH. Medium silver gray with deeper highlights at the rims. Full LIBERTY on the shield; perhaps the touch of surface roughness the coin exhibits amounted to a "net" VG-10 grade for this specimen. The first of what the writer calls the "big four" in the Liberty Seated dime series, comprising the first four years of Carson City coinage in the series, 1871 to 1874. Just 20,100 (amounting to $2,010 face value) examples of the date were produced, making for a classic issue that is eagerly sought by today's collectors regardless of condition. Don't be shy when the bidding starts for this lot—this date never goes begging for action in the auction arena.
