A lovely, lustrous GEM example of this popular variety with a vivid brilliance and crisp, sharply struck design elements. The surfaces display just a tiny trace of contact, appropriate for the assigned grade. As the New Orleans mint was churning out millions of silver dollars, a leftover reverse die from the Carson City mint was called into service, the CC mintmark partially effaced, and then the O mintmark punched in its place. PCGS 59, NGC 5. The most recent example brought $1,920 in July 2019 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $2,550. Very scarce any finer. Cert. Number 38764558 PCGS # 7268
