- Various sources reference 1856-C as the most poorly produced emission from Charlotte, and even UNC coins can appear to have twenty points of wear. This beige-gold example is no worse for the strike or wear, as average definition has been further softened by only smooth, honest circulation. While delicately wiped at some point, as can be discerned by delicately jumbled hairlines, a bit of surface grunge remains.
