Lot Description

Bolender-15, BB-152 has an obverse with 7x6 stars and a so-called irregular date. On the reverse, the top center two stars overlap the clouds above them, and this arrangement is widely considered a blunder by the die engraver -- the only such arrangement on a reverse die. In this prime, early die-state, one can find no trace at all of the die-cracks usually seen. This is an exquisitely attractive example that falls perilously close to being fully original, if not for light, incidental rub on a few high points that has created minor, isolated hairlines.
