A.C.E. Collection. Mintage: 17,300. 10 graded AU-58, 1 higher at NGC. That "higher" example is graded only MS-61 at NGC, placing this slightly circulated coin smack dab atop the pinnacle of available quality for a heavily underappreciated date. The surface is starting to acquire deeper reddish-gold hues over the more brilliant luster; some 1872-S tens started out prooflike. Although rather moderately abraded overall, only a single mark at the brow warrants individual mention.
