Lot Description

147.0 grains. Tan devices contrast nicely with chocolate brown surfaces. Not quite smooth, but pleasing for the grade. The reverse is weaker than obverse, suffering from a die failure through the right-central shield to the star after the word UNUM. A tiny rim bruise is present above the letter C in CAESAREA, tiny rim nick above second letter E of that word, some trivial slide mark abrasions at central reverse. A rare variety, though one specimen is known in Unc (ex Norweb, our Stack's sale of November 2006). Most of the CC is populated by VF coins. An aesthetically pleasing PCGS-certified VG like this would be a nice addition to most Jersey Horsehead sets.
