Lot Description

Among the very finest survivors from an original 440 proofs struck during this important Civil War year. Reflective, watery mirrors catch the light and the colors jump to life on the obverse. A lively antique tone is brought out when the reflective mirrors shine in the light. Very clean, icy smooth surfaces show no distracting lines and the strike is bold. PCGS 10, NGC 10. The last example to sell in auction was the CAC-approved ex Benson coin in our December 2016 Regency Auction that realized $5,875.
