1855 Braided Hair Cent. N-4. Rarity-1. Grellman Die State a. Upright 5s. MS-65 BN (NGC). Brown is wholly inadequate a descriptor here, as the colors are much more of a blue and crimson nature with glistening luster on the satin fields. The strike is sharp on the curls, soft on the star centers, about average for this variety. Free of spots or handling problems, and earning the Gem grade through careful storage these past 157 years.
