1840-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 3-B. Tall D. AU-50 (PCGS). Suitably lustrous, frosty surfaces with subtle rose peripheral highlights to dominant olive-gold color. Typical survivors from the mintage of 22,896 pieces are in lower grades through EF-40, often with significant impairments from heavy commercial use.
