1857-S Three-Dollar Gold Piece. EF-45 (NGC). Soft yellow-gold in appearance with scattered marks present, none of them available to the unaided eye. From a mintage for the date of 14,000 pieces. One of just five dates in the design type, 1854-1889, struck in San Francisco, including the <em>unique </em>1870-S issue.
