1853-C Liberty Half Eagle. Winter-3. Weak C. AU-50 (NGC). Deep yellow gold with orange highlights. The weak C mintmark was lightly impressed into the die -- on some examples of the variety it is all one can do to determine that the piece originated at the Charlotte Mint.
