Exceptional surface preservation for the more frequently encountered date logotype of the circulation strike 1856 dime. Both sides sport full, softly frosted luster, the centers brilliant and framed in halos of warm blue-gray, reddish-russet and pinkish-apricot peripheral toning. Fully struck with surfaces that present as remarkably smooth even under close scrutiny with the aid of a loupe. This is an outstanding survivor of the issue that would do equally well in a high quality type or date set.
