1857 Liberty Head Half Eagle. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC. Fully struck in most areas with appreciable reflectivity to an otherwise softly frosted finish. Richly original honey-orange and rose-orange colors also enhance this coin's considerable appeal. While not a great rarity in an absolute sense - the mintage is 98,188 pieces - the 1857 is one in a long line of No Motto Liberty Head half eagles from the Philadelphia Mint that are underrated in the finest circulated and all Mint State grades.
