1858 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-61 (PCGS). A sharply struck and lustrous example awash in lovely olive and orange-gold. Prior to this Fairmont Collection presentation, our last offering for a Mint State 1858 half eagle was in 2013 -- testament to the condition rarity of this Philadelphia Mint half eagle. This issue is actually elusive in all grades with a mintage of just 15,136 pieces, although it is curiously overlooked by most collectors. Underrated.
