- 1806/5 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-102. Rarity-3. MS-63 (PCGS). Condition Census #1 for the die marriage, this Choice Unc is the finest 1806/5 O-102 Half listed in the Spring 2010 revision to <em>Auction & Mail Bid Prices Realized for Bust Half Dollars: 1794-1839 </em>by Stephen J. Herrman. Both sides are deeply and originally toned in mostly charcoal-copper patina. At more direct angles, however, we do note lighter undertones of lavender, blue and pale-gold colors that have a target-like distribution from the centers to the borders. Well struck for the type, the borders are nicely denticulated and only in the center of the reverse do we see mentionable softness of detail. There are no abrasions of note, leaving it to subtle variations in the toning to trace the coin's pedigree. An important piece.
