What a fantastic GEM this is! Deep, original thick toning lingers on the watery fields. Boldly struck the details are fully rendered by a superior strike. This GEM was left to tone unmolested for many years, where layers of rich earthy blues, violets, greens and orange really pop when viewed under a light. The surfaces lack any disturbances of any kind. Only 551 proofs were struck. PCGS 15, NGC 38, CAC 5. Not a coin you see with any frequency. The last PCGS coin was not CAC and sold in April 2014 for $2,585. Both these sales took place before the market soured and put excellent collector coins like this on sale for no good reason; the current CU value is listed at $2,750. Now is a great time to put a coin like this away, either in a PR set of Barber or really any numismatic holding. Cert. Number 83508348 PCGS # 6557
