- Obv: A bust of Liberty faces left with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border and the date 1869 below. Liberty is wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY and ornamented with a single star, and the portrait is very similar to that used on the regular issue nickel three-cent piece of 1865 to 1889. Rev: A Roman numeral V on an ornate shield with the motto IN GOD WE RUST inscribed along the upper border. Satiny to semi-reflective in finish with crip striking detail and light silver gray surfaces. The uspatterns.com website traces only five specimens of this rare Judd number.
