Description du lot
1858 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. MS-63 (PCGS). Beautiful frosty rose-gold surfaces are viewed on both sides of highly appealing Choice Mint State survivor. Although nearly 50,000 were struck, these entered circulation at a tough time for gold coinage, after all the Civil War loomed a few years out, and most of these 1858 Liberty quarter eagles failed to make it into the next century. It is believed that 200 are known today, and this sparkling little jewel is one of the best seen today and would make a worthy target for the date or type specialist at this auction. PCGS Population: 15; 8 finer (MS-65 finest). PCGS# 7786. NGC ID: 25JG. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
