Lot Description
1776 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 6-76A, W-7790. Rarity-4. GEORGIVS III, Large Date. VG-8 Minor Smoothing. 103.4 grains. Deep golden-brown with an area on the effigy's neck where same faint vertical scratches have been smoothed, otherwise the quality is substantial for the grade and type. The 1776 date makes this Machin's Mills copper one of the most popular of all "colonial" issues. Pleasing for the grade. PCGS# 945. Provenance: Paper envelope with attribution note included.
