Really a lovely example of this distinct die pairing in Wood's Rosa Americana twopence series. The surfaces are toned in dominant autumn-brown with blushes of steel-olive encroaching on the obverse, the reverse with some faded brassy-gold color remaining in the center. Micropitting in a few areas is easily overlooked during in hand viewing, and just as easily forgiven. There are no distracting marks or spots and, in fact, the in-hand appearance is exceptionally smooth for the type. Sharply to fully struck with good gloss, it is difficult for us to imagine a nicer Rosa Americana twopence at the Choice AU grade level. Worthy of strong bids.
