1871 Pattern Five-Cent Piece. Judd-1050, Pollock-1184. Rarity-6-. Nickel. Plain Edge. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. Secure Holder. Obv: similar to the circulating nickel three-cent pieces of the date but on a larger format. Rev: laurel wreath, retrograde Roman numeral V within, the wide side of the V on the viewer's right, CENTS below V. Frosty silver gray devices sit nicely against the reflective mirror fields. A whisper of pale champagne graces both sides. Choice for the grade and undeniably worthy of the assigned grade. Among the finest certified for the type, and an enticing offering for the dedicated pattern collector.
