1871 Hawaii Plantation Token. Wailuku Plantation. 12 1/2 Cents. Medcalf-Russell 2TE-3. Narrow Starfish. Fine-15 BN (NGC). The deep rose-brown surfaces of this elusive token exhibit some deeper highlights in the recessed design areas. The three old sunken lines in the planchet on the reverse were no doubt there when struck. Wailuku tokens are rare and seldom offered in today's numismatic marketplace, and we suspect more than one specialist will queue up for this rarity when it crosses the auction block.<br /> <br /> On this variety the uppermost point of the starfish touches the lower right base of the H in HI.<br />
