- Newcomb-9, the "silly head". The thin die crack bisecting the obverse helps to immediately identify the die-marriage. Utterly delightful root beer-brown color douses virtually the entire surface, but permits some very subtle peeps of brick-red to shine through. This is an extensively lustrous coin, more so than one might expect of a "brown" designation, accompanied by hardly any signs at all of handling.
