Lot Description
1875 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-65 (PCGS). CAC. Handsomely toned in sandy-silver patina, pinkish-copper overtones are more mottled in distribution on the obverse. Cobalt blue peripheral highlights also flash into view as the coin dips into a light. Survivors from a Proof mintage of 700 pieces are seldom offered finer than Choice, and few of the Gems that we have handled over the years are as attractive as this CAC-approved specimen. Sure to sell for a strong premium to a discerning numismatist. Provenance: From the BASH Collection. Earlier from our (Stack's) sale of the John Work Garrett Collection for the Johns Hopkins University, March 1976, part of lot 307, a complete 1875 Proof set of minor and silver coinage. PCGS Population: 21; 17 finer in this category (Proof-67 finest). CAC Population: 6; 6. To view all items from the BASH Collection click here. PCGS# 6436. NGC ID: 27U9.
