Vivid golden-apricot color blankets both sides of this smartly impressed, fully lustrous example. Only 69,596 circulation strike double eagles were coined during the year at the Philadelphia Mint. Uncirculated examples of the 1906 are scarce by the standards of the type, Q. David Bowers in 2004 providing an estimate of just 1,000 to 1,500 coins extant.
