Lot Description

A pleasing example with gently mottled olive-russet patina to a base of antique silver-gray. Direct lighting calls forth vivid reddish-apricot undertones, as well as original mint frost. There are a few moderate-size marks, most notably on the obverse at Liberty's bust and in the right field area, but there is also considerable sharpness of detail to occupy the viewer. A scarce die marriage of the 1797-dated half dime issue that is rare in Mint State, any opportunity to acquire an example in a finer circulated grade such as this deserves serious consideration.
