1868 Shield Nickel. MS-66+ (PCGS). CAC. Extraordinary Gem surfaces are minimally toned in iridescent gold. Intensely lustrous with a silky smooth appearance, there is much to recommend this beauty to quality conscious type and date collectors. Although the 1868 nickel has a mintage of 28,817,000 circulation strikes, it is scarce to rare in the finest Mint State grades, as few were saved.
