Lot Description

Unlike so many proof 1885 nickels that look more businesslike than their circulation strike counterparts, there is no mistaking this example for anything other than a careful production from Philadelphia. Significant contrast emanates from either side, particularly the borderline cameo obverse. All this is apparent despite a richly infused blanket of lemon-orange across the entire surface. One nick inside left of "V" on the reverse determines the grade.
