Lot Description

Mintage: 3000. 17 graded MS-67 (2 are MS-67 "star"), zero higher at NGC. Evidence of two die-clashes on the reverse joins with blazing, semi-reflective surfaces to provide two of the characteristics frequently seen for 1879 gold dollars. Prooflike examples are known, but later struck examples such as this offer only minimal device-to-field contrast. As expected of such a lofty grade, there are zero reportable contact marks, but a few exceedingly faint hairlines may be noticed.
