A highly significant offering for advanced collectors of late date large cents, this is the single finest PCGS-certified example of the 1847 Large/Small 7 variety. It represents the scarce Newcomb-18 die pairing, of which Bob Grellman (2021) states: "Seven seen in Mint State; only one has a significant amount of mint red remaining, two others have traces of mint red still visible." Based on this observation, the offered coin is certainly one of the finest obtainable given the generous amount of mint orange color that it retains in the protected areas around the design elements.
