- The Crimson Collection. Newcomb-1. PCGS could have saved itself some verbiage and simply annotated the Newcomb variety, which is one of the common die-marriages for 1834, easily attributed in this die-state by the obverse encircling crack. Die state B has a peripheral die crack on the reverse as well. Nice yet subtle pecan-bronze luster illuminates finer details, including a noticeable strikethrough thread layered over the eleventh star.
