Lot Description

1864 Seated Liberty Quarter. MS-62 (NGC). Satiny and quite vibrant for the assigned grade, this otherwise brilliant example exhibits silver-rose peripheral highlights that are more pronounced for the obverse. There are few abrasions in evidence, but we are compelled to mention a couple of wispy grazes over the lower left obverse. This scarce Civil War era issue has a limited business strike mintage of just 93,600 pieces, many of which were probably lost through melting.
