1834 Classic Quarter Eagle. Breen-6140. Large Head. MS-62+ PL (NGC). CAC. Lustrous yellow gold with pale orange and olive iridescence throughout the frosted motifs and mirrored fields. The cameo contrast is fairly significant here, and though the reflective fields show some scattered ticks and patches of cloudiness, the in-hand appeal is striking. Of interest to a specialist: several obverse stars show extra points and repunching, and the top arc of the primary 2 in the denomination shows repunching, though this probably faded quickly from the die. Sharply struck and choice for the grade. PCGS# 7692.
