1854-S Liberty Head Eagle. AU-53 (PCGS). Original pinkish-honey surfaces offer sharp, lustrous AU quality for this perennially popular mintmarked gold issue. The 1854-S is the premier ten-dollar gold eagle issue from the San Francisco Mint. While a relatively high percentage of the 123,826-piece mintage has survived, examples that grade AU or Mint State are scarce relative to demand for them among today's quality conscious gold enthusiasts.
