This beautiful Gem exhibits light iridescent toning that is most vivid at the borders. A full strike, intense satin luster and exceptionally smooth appearance are sure to excite high grade mintmarked type collectors and Barber quarter enthusiasts alike. The 1906-D is the Denver Mint's premier quarter dollar, the mintage a respectable 3,280,000 pieces. Enough coins were saved at the time that Mint State examples are can only be described as scarce in an absolute sense. In grades above MS-65, as here, the 1906-D develops into a significant condition rarity.
