1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony Pine Tree Shilling. Small Planchet. Noe-16, Salmon 2-B, W-835. Rarity-2. AU-53 (PCGS). 72.53 grains. Old golden and pale blue toning over lustrous medium gray surfaces. A beautiful specimen, with choice eye appeal and near-perfect centering. The rim is a little crude at 11:00 on the obverse, as struck, and some natural striation is seen on the G of ENGLAND. The fields appear granular, which was the natural texture of this die in this slightly advanced die state. About as nice as could reasonably be hoped for. The old time toning and overall appearance will please even them most particular connoisseur.
