Losbeschreibung
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-110a, T-21. Rarity-3. Two Leaves. Good-6 (PCGS). Iridescent powder blue and golden-apricot undertones backlight warmer sandy-silver patina on both sides of this handsome early half dollar. Uneven wear on the obverse has resulted in soft detail along the lower right border, the digits 95 in the date and star 15 particularly faint. The upper right border on that side also exhibits soft detail due to the sharp breaks that confirm the late die state. The reverse retains universally bold outline detail to all major design elements, both sides with a few well scattered marks that are not out of context for the assigned grade. The readily available 1795 Overton-110 is one of the most popular type varieties in the brief and challenging Flowing Hair half dollar series. Tompkins Die Stage 5/3. Provenance: From the E. Horatio Morgan Collection. PCGS# 6052. NGC ID: 24E7. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
