- Lot Description
- 1843 Liberty Seated Quarter. Proof-53 (NGC). A lightly circulated Proof early Liberty Seated quarter. The fields are reflective and the devices satiny, and a wealth of deeply varied golden toning graces the rims. A rarity in Proof; the PCGS website estimates just four to six Proof examples of the date known. This sharply struck Proof exhibits a bold diagonal thatch of raised die lines between the right edge of the shield and Liberty's adjacent knee, a diagnostic of Proofs of the date. Not at all offensive in appearance and worthy of a good look from interested bidders.
