1842-O Liberty Seated Dime. Medium O. MS-61 (NGC). Despite a mintage of more than 2 million pieces, the '42-O is a very scarce coin in Mint State conditions. In fact, it was rated by Brian Greer as 12th of the 116 varieties in the series. Only 36 pieces have been certified in mint condition by the combined staffs of PCGS and NGC. This piece has slightly subdued mint luster and is modestly toned with rose-gray and gold patina overall. Only slight softness is noted on the head of Liberty and at the base of the wreath.
