1898 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-64+ (PCGS). CAC. This frosty near-Gem is smartly impressed with sharp to full striking detail throughout the design. The surfaces are bathed in warm rose-gold patina that further enhances the visual appeal. The 1898 tells a familiar story for a higher mintage Philadelphia Mint half eagle issue from the 1890s: readily obtainable in lower grades yet scarce to rare above the basal MS-64 level.
