THE GEORGE SCHWENK COLLECTION Ex D.L. Hansen Collection, as noted on the insert. While not rare in an absolute sense, the 1917 nickel is rare in such a lofty state of preservation. An intensely vibrant luster glows in the fields, accenting the sharply struck up design elements and bringing the pastel peach and teal tones to life. A SUPERB example of this early date Buffalo nickel, boasting a wonderful, original eye appeal. PCGS 237, NGC 62, CAC 47. There are 27 in MS66+ at PCGS and just 40 are graded higher. PCGS lists a value of $3,250 in their Price Guide, and the two most recent examples brought $2,640 in April 2022 and August 2019.
